Taddo Takes Talent to Women's Festival
Sault Star - Tuesday, June 22, 2004
Catherine Taddo is taking her music on the road.
The local singer-songwriter will perform as part of the first-ever Thundering Women's Festival which runs this weekend in Thunder Bay.
Taddo, who performs regularly in various city venues including Steamy Bean Coffee Co. and Down Beat, will be joined by Lindsay Pugh for a 1 p.m. show Friday.
Pugh sat in with various groups, including Bob Jenkins Band and Northern Jazz Ensemble, during Sault Symphony Orchestra's Bratwurst, Beer and Beethoven held June 13 at Roberta Bondar Pavilion.
"I'm really excited," said Taddo in a recent interview.
"There's going to be some amazing people at this festival like Jane Siberry, Susan Aglukark, and Rita Chiarelli. Just to be on the same stage as them is going to be very exciting."
Taddo and Pugh will also perform at a pair of workshops.
A graduate of Lakehead University's civil engineering program, Taddo grew up in Thunder Bay. This is her first performance in the northwestern Ontario city in seven years.
Thundering Women features musical, artistic and entrepreneurial efforts by Northern women accompanied by national and international talent.
She will also appear at the Red Rock Festival and the Lost Loon Music Festival on St. Joseph Island in August.
"Hopefully next summer we'll be able to do a few more," said Taddo.
